JACOB ZUMA AND HIS AND NPA APPEAL AGAINST FRAUD AND CORRUPTION BEING RE-OPENED

THE APPEALS BY JACOB ZUMA AND THE NPA WAS TO HAVE BEEN HEARD BY THE SUPREME COURT OF APPEAL ON THURSDAY, JUNE 9 2016 BY SUBRY GOVENDER The application by the National Prosecution Authority (NPA) in South Africa to appeal against the ruling of the Pretoria High Court in April that the fraud and corruption charges against President Jacob Zuma should be re-instituted will be heard soon. Zuma has joined the NPA in its appeal against the High Court decision that he should face the nearly 800 charges of fraud, corruption, racketeering and money laundering. The charges relate to the more than 250 000 US Dollars that was paid to him by his former financial advisor, Schabir Shaik, in return for political favours and government contracts during a 10-year period since 1994. THE Legal and constitutional experts say the latest move by the NPA and Zuma is a tactic to delay Zuma facing the criminal charges in a court of law.
