PASSING OF PANJALA MARIAMMA NAIDOO TODAY JANUARY 6 2021

With great sadness I wish to inform the Muniamma Family members and friends of the passing in the early hours of this morning (Jan 6 2021) of the eldest great-grand-child of our ancestors, Mrs Panjala Mariamma Naidoo. She was 85-years-old. Mrs Naidoo, who was born in the Clairwood area of Durban in 1936, was the daughter of the eldest grand-son, Mr Nadasen Govender, who spent most of his life in Port Shepstone and used to be known as Port Shepstone uncle or mamha. Mrs Naidoo, who spent her teenage years in Port Shepstone, spent most of her life in the rural area of Umzinto. She is survived by four daughters - Selive, Malie, Ragini and Angie - and son, Roy, grand-children, great-grand-children and hundreds of descendants of the Muniamma extended family. When she was 80 years-old we produced a radio documentary on her life. This documentary will be published after her funeral.
