ANC NATIONAL CONFERENCE JULY 5 2017 - ANC MUST NOW DELIVER TO TRANSFORM THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC LIVES OF THE MAJORITY BLACK PEOPLE
In South Africa – the ruling ANC’S all-important National Policy Conference ended today after six days of intensive discussions on serious issues affecting the unity and the very existence of the oldest liberation movement in Africa. The nearly 4 000 delegates have taken a number of decisions to embark on a programme of regeneration and to tackle – among other things - widespread corruption and state capture, lack of ethical leadership and the socio-economic empowerment of the majority of black South Africans. Most of the delegates have also gone against the recent controversial statements of “white monopoly capital” in order to keep alive its age-old policy of non-racialism. The party would in future only talk about “monopoly capital” when tackling the issue of rapid socio-economic transformation in favour of the black majority. The ruling ANC has at the same time re-affirmed its decision to withdraw from the ICC and to support the human rights and self-determination struggles of the people of Western Sahara, Kurdish people in Turkey and the liberation of Palestine.
