JACOB ZUMA MUST STILL STEP DOWN DESPITE APPOINTING A COMMISSION OF INQUIRY INTO STATE CAPTURE

The beleaguered South African President – Jacob Zuma – appears to have pulled off another master stroke when he announced that a Judicial Commission of Inquiry will investigate the allegations of state capture. He made the announcement hours before the newly-elected National Executive Committee of the ruling ANC under its new president – Cyril Ramaphosa - began discussions on the political crisis facing the country following repeated calls for Zuma to be removed from his presidency. Zuma said he had appointed the Deputy Chief Justice – Raymond Zondo – to head the commission after discussions with the Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng.
